Last night's Downtown Art Walk was even bigger than last month it just keeps getting bigger and bigger! There were two live bands playing on Main St., one interesting ensemble outside the local tattoo parlour playing interesting sounds that seemed to me to be some kind of free-for-all Reggaeton, and the ever popular cover band on the corner of Main and 5th whos name escapes me at the moment. Both drew large crowds and that wasn't too hard because of the increasing number of people attending Downtown Art Walk each month. At 725 Spring Gallery/Artists Lofts, there were two local artists (names will be forthcoming) showing their work and a very popular foto booth stole the show there.
I heard whispers that there are plans on having the Downtown Art Walk twice a month, and "someone" (who shall remain nameless) told me that there was a special shuttle bus coming available complete with a comfortable little rolling living room inside it!
The buzz now is The Hive's current show, which is sure to be a huge hit. A little bird told me that several large works were sold during Art Walk, so perhaps the art market is heating up a bit on the prospects of coming change in this election year. Alex Schaefer's work is a standout there.. be sure to drop by and check out his "5 Positions" series for an extremely affordable and interesting take on the porn industry painted from live porn shoots!
